ADRIAN YOUTH HOCKEY ASSOCIATION ADDS LACROSSE TO PROGRAMMING
Jr. Bulldogs Lacrosse Seeks to Grow Youth Participation in Lenawee County
(Adrian, MI) – The Adrian Youth Hockey Association today announces the addition of youth lacrosse to the organization’s program offerings.
Jr. Bulldogs Lacrosse will include introductory programs and recreational teams for boys and girls in Kindergarten through 8th grade. The teams will compete in the Sylvania Recreation League, which is recognized by US Lacrosse as a “Gold Stick Standard of Excellence” league. Other members include Sylvania, Perrysburg, and Anthony Wayne.
“Lacrosse is widely recognized as one of the fastest growing participation sports in the United States,” says AYHA President Gregg DeVitto. “Locally, there’s never been a better opportunity to expand the sport through an organized and structured grass roots effort. Many of our youth hockey players have taken an interest in the sport and we look forward to creating opportunities to play throughout Lenawee County.”
Jr. Bulldogs Lacrosse will host a Parent/Informational Meeting on Thursday, March 15 at Adrian’s Prairie Elementary School from 6:00 – 7:00 PM.
The youth lacrosse spring season will run from Tuesday, April 10 through Sunday, June 16. The organization will utilize the fields behind Adrian’s Michener Elementary School as their home fields for practices and games.
“We’ve received a lot of support and input from the lacrosse community locally and throughout the region,” DeVitto adds. “US Lacrosse has been moving towards a model that replicates USA Hockey’s developmental platform which will translate into a seamless transition from how AYHA operates on the ice to what Jr. Bulldogs Lacrosse will do on the fields.”

AYHA Announces Partnership with 3DPT
The Adrian Youth Hockey Association is pleased to announce a partnership with 3 Dimensional Physical Therapy (3DPT) for the launch of an off-ice work-out program designed for all Jr. Bulldogs hockey players.
3DPT has four locations in Lenawee County and with their professional staff of trainers will conduct a series of 22 off-ice trainings throughout the 2017-18 hockey season. The weekly events will take place at The Centre, 1800 W. US 223, in Adrian from 7:30 – 8:30 PM.
The program has been written and designed by fitness and health professionals to include a focus on increasing on-ice performance, injury prevention, whole body wellness, and mental encouragement. Gary Gray, Director of Program Development at 3DPT, has approved the hockey program.
“This is a tremendous opportunity for our players of all ages to receive professional services that will provide a foundation for long-term athlete development,” said AYHA President Gregg DeVitto. “Beyond sports, our players and their families will have access to world-class facilities and trainers to help create a healthy lifestyle environment for all.”
The sessions will be divided into age groups and those are now visible through the official AYHA website at www.AdrianHockey.com.
Individual players may also work directly with 3DPT for a one-on-one functional biomechanical assessment with an assigned strength and flexibility plan. 3DPT’s expert staff is well educated in Applied Functional Science and will use the assessments to identify any deficits in strength, coordination, or mobility that impede athletic performance. The individualized plan includes a video assessment provided to the athlete for discussion and reference with the assigned trainer. Through the collaboration between AYHA and 3DPT, this individual assessment is available for only $45.
“Athletes at all levels, even in youth sports, are constantly looking for ways to improve performance,” DeVitto said. “The hockey-specific trainings developed by 3DPT for AYHA help create an environment to gain that edge. But, again, transcending what this ultimately looks like on the ice, this is a platform that can be life-changing for our players and their families.”
